Introduction

All the praise to Allah for HIS mercy on mankind. HE gifted humans a complete code of life called Islam. In it, the guidelines to be happy in Islamic marriage is also included. Marriage occupies a big chunk of people’s daily lives. For marriage people plans, spend times, works hard, build homes, raise children, cook, and eat, clean, and organize things, care of relatives etc. If we count all these marriage related things and the time spent on it, we can certainly see that how marriage dominates people’s lives. In other words, if people can be happy in marriage, then they can be happy in all marriage related issues in lives.

Similarly, the opposite is true as well. To be happy in marriage, people must have happiness in marriage related issues as well. Happiness in marriage cannot be separated from the related issues in life because life revolves around many issues, connected with one another, and only a holistic approach and guidance about it can make sure that everything is in balance and happiness is guaranteed outcome. Only Islam offers that holistic solution, and for this reason, happiness in Islamic marriage is a very important topic. It requires more discussion and more studies, and I am humbled to put little efforts into it in this book.

I have been serving as a Marriage Celebrant in my community for over a decade, and in every marriage ceremony, I try to give a talk on happiness in Marriage. My audience has been Muslims, non-Muslims, young and old, and I always receive good feedback from my audience. They advise me to continue speaking on this topic. They inspired me to write a book with the hope that it might be useful for many people, and it will be a Da’wa from my side. So, I have taken this effort for the pleasure of Allah, as a voluntary charity work, and I pray to Allah for the rewards, Ameen!

Even though the writing is mine, but before and after, many good souls have been involved in it. Their encouragements, supports, editing, and precious time have made my work easier. I acknowledge them and their hard work. For them, I pray that may Allah reward them plenty, Ameen!

To err is human, and I am not free from shortcomings. In my writing, for any shortcomings, I seek Allah’s protection, and I begin in the name of All-Merciful Allah, and I beg for HIS forgiveness. If the readers find something to put forward advice, I shall appreciate that. May Allah grant me knowledge and wisdom to carry on this hard task, Ameen!
